OB Certified Surgical Tech CST - PRN - Nights
About The Position
Saint Alphonsus Health System is seeking a PRN Certified Surgical Technologist for its Nampa OB Department. The role supports surgical procedures and provides patient care and administrative support within the maternity unit. Under the supervision of a Registered Nurse, the CST prepares and sets up procedures for physicians and surgical staff when cesarean sections are required, and communicates with surgical teams and supervisory staff. Much of the role also involves supporting Maternity Center patients and assisting with unit operations, including functioning as a Unit Clerk and Certified Nursing Assistant.
Requirements
- Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) certification through the NBSTSA or Tech in Surgery-Certified (TS-C) certification through the NCCT is required.
- Basic Life Support certification for healthcare providers from AHA, ARC, or the Military Training Network is required at hire.
Responsibilities
- Assist with cesarean sections by setting up and preparing surgical procedures for physicians and surgical staff under a Registered Nurse's supervision.
- Support and communicate directly with surgical teams and supervisory staff.
- Room patients, set up charts, and help take vital signs.
- Give babies baths.
- Help stock the floor.
- Perform Unit Clerk and Certified Nursing Assistant functions to support patient care.
