About The Position

This role is for a Certified Surgical Technologist in the Operating Room at Ascension Saint Thomas Midtown in Nashville, TN. The position is full-time, day shift. The Surgical Technologist will act as the 'right hand' to surgeons, anticipating their needs and ensuring instruments and supplies are ready. They will also serve as a patient advocate, ensuring safety, dignity, and clinical excellence throughout procedures. A key responsibility is maintaining the sterile field with organized workflows and ensuring 100% accuracy in instrument and sponge counts for patient safety.

Requirements

BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
Surgical Tech credentialed from the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required.
Per Tennessee Code (TCA) 68-57-101(a), non-certified applicants must have 18 months of surgical technologist experience in the 3 years preceding 5/21/07; or began the appropriate surgical technologist training prior to 5/21/07 and completed by 5/21/10.
High School diploma equivalency with 2 years of cumulative experience OR Associate's degree/Technical degree OR 4 years of applicable cumulative job specific experience required.

Responsibilities

Act as the 'right hand' to surgeons by anticipating every move, ensuring the exact instrument or supply is ready before it’s even requested.
Ensure patient safety, dignity, and clinical excellence at every stage of the procedure through precision positioning and meticulous draping.
Maintain ownership of the sterile field with masterfully organized workflows.
Maintain 100% accuracy in instrument and sponge counts.
