About The Position

The Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) in the Operating Room at Texas Health Fort Worth is a full-time, day shift position. This role is crucial in a fast-paced, high-volume department averaging 75 surgeries per day. The candidate will gain excellent clinical experience performing high-acuity and intense surgical procedures, including robotics, complex spine and ortho trauma, and intricate plastic surgery cases. Requirements

High School Diploma or Equivalent
Graduate of an accredited surgery technology program, Vocational Nurse Program or graduate/completion of a military training program in surgical technology Upon hire
CST - Certified Surgical Technologist (NBSTSA) or TS-C (NCCT) and graduate of an accredited surgical tech program Upon Hire
BCLS - Basic Cardiac Life Support prior to providing independent patient care and maintained quarterly
A high degree of confidentiality, positive interpersonal skills, acceptable grooming practices and ability to function in a fast-paced, changing environment.

1 Year of current operating room experience
CST - Certified Surgical Technologist (NBSTSA) or TS-C (NCCT) and was employed to practice surgical technology in a healthcare facility before September 1,2009
CST - Certified Surgical Technologist (NBSTSA) or TS-C (NCCT) and graduate/completion of a military training program in surgical technology within 2 years of hire
LVN - Licensed Vocational Nurse Upon Hire

Responsibilities

Intra-operatively displays skills and behavior conducive to desirable outcome.
Assists as needed in coordinating patient care Peri-operatively and assumes responsibility and accountability for behavior in order to maintain standards for professional nursing practice.
Assists in providing Peri-operative care for a patient population that includes Infants, Pediatrics, Adults, and Geriatrics.
Preoperatively assists R.N. circulator in formulating plan of care.
Post-operatively follows proper procedures for care of instruments, supplies and equipment.
Under supervision, assists RN circulator with post-operative duties.
