About The Position
The Surgical Technologist prepares the operating room before a surgery takes place. They also prepare patients for surgery, arrange medical equipment, and assist doctors during surgical procedures.
Requirements
- Certified Surgical Technologist
- High School Diploma or G.E.D.
- One year of work in the medical field preferred.

- CNA or LPN preferred
Responsibilities
- Prepares and issues central sterile supplies and equipment used in OR and other departments requiring sterile supplies.
- Received, breaks down, sorts, inventories, cleans, and examines surgical instruments for proper serviceability.
- Properly prepares instruments for sterilization using sterilization principles
- Assembles and wraps surgical instruments and other supplies and equipment for sterilization
- Loads and operates sterilization equipment using best practice policy and procedures
- Cleans and disinfects all equipment according to department procedures
- Conducts tests pertinent to CS such as spore tests and Bowie Dick Tests
- Follows collection, processing, and distribution procedures according to policy (rounds)
- Orders necessary supplies for the department weekly
- Performs preventative maintenance procedures on rental equipment according to department procedures
- Utilizes personal protective barriers and equipment; performs universal precautions
- Performs other duties as assigned
