About The Position
As a Certified Surgical Technologist at Ortho Colorado, you will provide expert support within an 8-suite surgical department that averages 450–550+ procedures monthly. As a specialized orthopedic hospital, the facility focuses exclusively on total joint replacements (hips, shoulders, knees, and ankles), spine surgery, and sports medicine. Supporting a comprehensive care continuum, the facility features 11 pre-op beds, 10 PACU bays, and 48 inpatient beds, ensuring high-quality, specialized surgical care for every patient. OrthoColorado Hospital is Colorado's only orthopedic specialty hospital and is designed specifically for the orthopedic patient. Requirements
- High School Diploma/G.E.D.
- Completion of an approved Surgical Technician program.
- Current Basic Life Support through the American Heart Association
- Current registration with the Colorado Department of Regulatory Agencies (DORA) as a surgical technologist for associates working in Colorado. A person performing Surgical Tech functions within the scope of another Colorado license, certification, or registration does not need to register as a Surgical Tech.
- Certification in Surgical Technology from the National Board Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) or Certification as a Tech in Surgery from the National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT)
- Strong attention to detail
- Solid knowledge of sterile technique
- Ability to stay calm and communicate effectively as part of a fast-paced surgical team.

Responsibilities
- Maintains highest standard of sterile technique during procedure by checking package integrity, indicators and opening procedures.
- Performs appropriate counts with circulator prior to the operation, before incision is closed and as needed.
- Prepare back table and mayo stand anticipating needs of the surgeon and through the use of the surgeon’s preference card.
- Sets up sterile table with instruments, supplies, equipment, and medications/solutions needed for procedure.
- Provides on-call coverage outside of standard scheduled hours per department and/or facility policy.
- Anticipates possible problems or complications that could arise during case. Adjusts quickly and prepares for emergent cases that change workflow.
- Arrange and inventory sterile instruments, equipment, and supplies for surgical cases, passing items to surgeons and nurses as needed throughout the procedure.
- Assist in preparing and moving patients, along with sterilizing and cleaning instruments, equipment, and rooms between cases.
