About The Position

The Surgical Technologist functions as a scrub person under the supervision of the surgeon and registered nurse, helping ensure a safe operating room environment. The role involves managing equipment functions and coordinating operative procedures to maximize patient safety. The position requires expertise in surgical techniques, human anatomy, surgical procedures, and applying tools and technologies to support safe patient care during invasive therapeutic and diagnostic procedures.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technologist program or an equivalent military surgical technologist program.
• American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification.
• Certified Surgical Technologist (CST).
• At least two years of experience in a surgical setting.

Responsibilities

• Ensure case carts are completed in accordance with preference cards.
• Interpret preference cards to procure necessary instruments and supplies.
• Communicate with operating room staff and sterile processing personnel to coordinate instrumentation for scheduled and unscheduled cases.
• Review daily schedules with the charge nurse and sterile processing day coordinator to identify potential turnover delays and scheduling issues.
• Manage core communications associated with the role, delegate duties as needed, and coordinate breaks and lunches with appropriate personnel.
• Serve as a resource for the sterile processing department and surgical services regarding supply and instrumentation procurement for surgical procedures.
• Coordinate with materials management regarding supply utilization and deployment.
