About The Position

Franciscan Health is seeking a Certified Surgical Technologist First Assist to provide high-quality operative care. The role supports surgical procedures as a first assistant or primary scrub, requiring diligence, adaptability, and the ability to anticipate needs in the operating room. Requirements

High school diploma or GED.
Certificate of graduation from an accredited Surgical Technologist program.
One year of surgery experience.
Ability to meet Universal Precautions Guidelines and Standards of Nursing Care.

Nice To Haves

Certified Surgical First Assistant (CSFA).
National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) certification.
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association.

Responsibilities

Maintain correct counts of sponges, sharps, and instruments with the circulating nurse according to established procedures.
Maintain and organize instruments and equipment through proper care, cleaning, utilization, assembly, and sterilization.
Collaborate and participate with the circulator in planning and preparations based on the patient’s needs, surgical procedure, and physician preference.
Demonstrate technical competency in duties and skills needed to first assist the surgeon and anticipate needs during routine, complex, specialty, and emergency procedures.
Provide visualization of the operative site.
Perform all duties in accordance with the Universal Precautions Administrative Guideline.
