About The Position

The Certified Surgical Technician facilitates the safe and efficient performance of surgical procedures at Frye Regional Medical Center. The role prepares the operating suite, performs scrub technician duties, maintains a sterile field using aseptic technique, supports completion of the surgery schedule, and maintains an organized work area. The technician must be competent in at least three specialty areas.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Certification for Surgical Technology with the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting.
• Competence in at least three specialty areas.

Responsibilities

• Prepare the surgical operating suite with drapes, solutions, instruments, equipment, and supplies.
• Ensure equipment and instruments are in good working order.
• Perform the role of the scrub technician.
• Use principles of aseptic technique to establish and maintain a sterile field.
• Facilitate efficient completion of the surgery schedule.
• Maintain an organized work area and participate in daily unit duties.
• Maintain competency in at least three specialty areas.
