About The Position

The Certified Surgical Technician facilitates the safe and efficient performance of surgical procedures at Frye Regional Medical Center. The role coordinates add-on, urgent, and emergent cases with the charge RN, anesthesia, and surgeons; prepares operating suites; performs the scrub technician role; and applies aseptic technique to establish and maintain a sterile field. The technician supports efficient completion of the surgery schedule, maintains an organized work area, participates in daily unit duties, and must be competent in at least three specialty areas. Frye Regional Medical Center is a 355-bed acute care hospital with an 81-bed behavioral health facility and more than 70 primary and specialty care providers. Shift hours are flexible and can be discussed during the interview process.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
Certification for Surgical Technology with the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting.
Competence in at least three specialty areas.

Responsibilities

Coordinate add-on, urgent, and emergent cases with the charge RN, anesthesia, and surgeons; verify staff, room, equipment, and instrument availability.
Document delays and their causes, and escalate barriers such as missing instruments, equipment outages, patients not being ready, or transport delays.
Prepare the operating suite with drapes, solutions, instruments, equipment, and supplies.
Ensure equipment and instruments are in good working order.
Perform the role of the scrub technician.
Use aseptic technique to establish and maintain a sterile field.
Facilitate efficient completion of the surgery schedule.
Maintain an organized work area and participate in daily unit duties.
