About The Position
The Certified Surgical Tech reflects Northwestern Medicine’s mission, vision, and values, adheres to its Code of Ethics and Corporate Compliance Program, and complies with relevant policies, procedures, guidelines, and regulatory and accreditation standards. The role facilitates the safe and efficient performance of surgical procedures.
Requirements
- Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technologist program.
- Obtain certification as a Surgical Technologist (CST) within twelve months of hire.
- Current CPR – Basic Life Support.
Responsibilities
- Prepare the surgical operating suite with drapes, medications, solutions, instruments, equipment, implants, and supplies; ensure equipment and instruments are available and functional.
- Assist with preparing, transporting, positioning, and draping patients.
- Pass instruments to the physician during surgery and continually account for the number and location of instruments and supplies.
- Receive and process specimens, when required, for delivery to the laboratory.
