About The Position

This role is for a Certified Surgical Tech in the Cardiovascular Operating Room at Ascension St. Vincent Heart Center in Carmel, IN. The position is full-time, with four 10-hour shifts per week. The Surgical Tech will facilitate safe and efficient cardiovascular and/or neuro surgical procedures, prepare the operating suite, hand instruments and supplies to the surgeon, assist with patient preparation and positioning, maintain instruments, and assist with hemostasis.

Requirements

BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
Surgical Tech credentialed from the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.
High School diploma equivalency with 2 years of cumulative experience OR Associate'sdegree/Technical degree OR 4 years of applicable cumulative job specific experience required.

Responsibilities

Facilitate the safe and efficient performance of cardiovascular and/or neuro surgical procedures.
Prepare surgical operating suite with sterile and non-sterile instruments and supplies.
Hand required/requested instruments and supplies to surgeon during surgery.
Assist with preparing, transporting, positioning and draping patients.
Maintain instruments in an organized manner and monitors/tracks instrument counts throughout procedures.
Assist surgeons' provision of hemostasis during surgery.
