About The Position

This role is for a Certified Surgical Tech in General Surgery at Ascension Via Christi, St Francis in Wichita, KS. The schedule is full-time, night shift, working Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 6:30 PM to 7:00 AM, with holiday rotation. Associates are eligible for tuition discounts and priority placement in select healthcare programs through an academic partnership with Wichita State University.

Requirements

  • BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
  • Surgical Tech credentialed from the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.
  • Surgical Tech credentialed from the National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT) obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date. Tech in Surgery-Certified (TS-C) by the National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT).
  • Surgical Tech credentialed from the Association of Surgical Technologists (AST) obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date. Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) by the Association of SurgicalTechnologists (AST)
  • High School diploma equivalency with 2 years of cumulative experience OR Associate's degree/Technical degree OR 4 years of applicable cumulative job specific experience required.
  • Graduation from an accredited Surgical Technologist program.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare high-precision surgical environments by orchestrating the setup of sterile instruments and supplies to ensure every procedure begins without delay.
  • Anticipate the needs of the surgical team by expertly facilitating the flow of instruments and supplies, acting as a proactive extension of the surgeon’s hands.
  • Safeguard patient wellbeing through meticulous instrument tracking and count management, maintaining a rigorous standard of accuracy throughout the entire perioperative process.
  • Support critical clinical maneuvers, including patient positioning and hemostasis assistance, to maintain a stable and secure operative field.
  • Collaborate with the multidisciplinary OR team to streamline transitions and guarantee the highest level of sterile technique and patient safety.
