About The Position

The Surgical Technologist II (operating room scrub technician) sets up sterile field, gathers supplies for surgical cases, based on knowledge of instruments and equipment to be used. This position passes instruments to surgeons during surgery. This position also performs count procedures per policy during surgical cases. The Surgical Technologist II serves as a resource and preceptor to less experienced Surgical Technologists and takes call for routine and high acuity cases after the orientation period. This role also learns, performs and completes assignments/responsibilities assigned during the transitional duty period.

Requirements

High School Diploma or equivalent
Graduate of a Surgical Technology Program or a military training program or Licensed Practical Nursing Program
Minimum of 6 months experience as a Surgical Technologist or related scrub tech position
Registration with the Virginia State Board of Medicine
Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) certification required (if hired after 12/31/21)
CST or Tech in Surgery-Certified (TS-C) or Certified Operating Room or Surgical Technician (CORST) certification (if hired prior to 12/31/21)
Current AHA, BLS, HCP Certification
Current CST; TS-C or CORST required

Nice To Haves

2 years experience as a surgical technologist or related scrub technician position
Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technology Program
