About The Position

This role is for a Certified Surgical First Assistant in the Operating Room at Ascension Saint Thomas Rutherford in Murfreesboro, TN. The position is full-time with weekend options. The impact of this role includes optimizing the operative environment by precisely positioning patients for maximum surgical exposure while prioritizing their safety and physical comfort through the use of stabilizing equipment. It also involves providing critical visualization of the surgical site by expertly manipulating tissue, managing suction and irrigation, and employing retraction techniques to support the surgeon’s precision. Ensuring procedural safety and stability by utilizing advanced techniques to achieve hemostasis and assisting with the meticulous closure of body planes and application of surgical dressings is also key. Finally, the role facilitates seamless room transitions and readiness by preparing the surgical suite according to specialized preference cards and managing the efficient removal of instruments and supplies post-procedure.

Requirements

BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
Certified First Surgical Assistant obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required. Hired/transferred before 5/30/21 not required to hold certification. Accepted: National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting; American Board of Surgical Assistants; or National Commission for the Certification of Surgical Assistants.
High School diploma equivalency with 2 years of cumulative experience OR Associate's degree/Technical degree OR 4 years of applicable cumulative job specific experience required.
