Requirements

• BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
• High School diploma equivalency with 2 years of cumulative experience OR Associate's degree/Technical degree OR 4 years of applicable cumulative job specific experience required.

Nice To Haves

• Surgical Assistant credentialed from the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA).
• 1+ year of recent experience as a First Assist.
• NBSTSA required for Certified position.

Responsibilities

• Providing direct assistance to surgeons, including tissue manipulation, retraction, sponging, suctioning, and irrigation to ensure clear operative site visualization.
• Positioning patients for optimal exposure using stabilizing equipment while prioritizing safety and comfort.
• Achieving temporary and permanent hemostasis, assisting with body plane closure, applying wound dressings, and securing drainage systems.
• Preparing surgical suites according to surgeon preference cards and assisting with room turnover, including waste and soiled cart removal.
