About The Position

The Certified Surgical First Assistant works in the Operating Room Float Pool at Ascension Saint Thomas Midtown, West and Rutherford in Nashville, Tennessee. This role provides high-level intraoperative assistance to surgeons, including tissue manipulation, retraction, and advanced suctioning. The assistant prepares and customizes operating room suites to meet surgeon preferences and supports sterile, efficient room turnarounds. The role also manages patient positioning and stabilizing equipment to provide surgical exposure while protecting patient safety, dignity, and comfort. The schedule is days, PRN.

Requirements

BLS Provider certification obtained within 30 days of hire or job transfer; American Heart Association or American Red Cross certification is accepted.
Certified First Surgical Assistant certification obtained before hire or job transfer, except for those hired or transferred before May 30, 2021. Accepted certifications include those from the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting, the American Board of Surgical Assistants, or the National Commission for the Certification of Surgical Assistants.
High school diploma equivalency with two years of cumulative experience, an associate or technical degree, or four years of applicable cumulative job-specific experience.
