The Licensed Addiction Counselor is responsible for the designs, develops, and implements all programs related to substance use and abuse prevention and intervention in conjunction with the Mental Health Consultant and Health Services staff, center physician and Center Director. The Licensed Addiction Counselor coordinates all programs designed to reduce and eliminate substance use and abuse and in compliance with the Department of Labor/Job Corps guidelines. Conducts in-service training sessions with both staff and students in all areas related to substance use and abuse. Submits recommendations to the Center Director for medical terminations related to substance misuse and abuse in conjunction with the Mental Health Consultant, center physician, Health and Wellness Manager (RN), etc. Monitors behavior and progress of students involved in the Alcohol and Other Drugs of Abuse Prevention/Intervention Program. Maintains confidential reports and records on all referrals and cases. Job Corps is the largest nationwide residential career training program in the country and has been operating for more than 60 years. The program helps eligible young people ages 16 through 24 complete their high school education, trains them for meaningful careers, and assists them with obtaining employment.
