This role performs scanning of instrument trays for location and creation of count sheet/label, demonstrates proper assembly, wrapping/containing, and decontamination techniques for instrument trays. The technician will use manual and automated cleaning methods, operate and document tests for washers and emergency eyewash/shower stations, and demonstrate proper loading, sterilization, and removal procedures. They will scan prepared items into the correct sterilizer load, operate sterilizers according to manufacturer instructions and department policy, and follow procedures for removal of items post-sterilization. The role involves monitoring procedures, scanning and delivering items to proper storage, effectively utilizing infection control concepts, and handling chemical and cleaning agents safely. The technician will describe procedures for chemical spills or related injuries, demonstrate safety precautions when operating equipment, and follow safe lifting and handling techniques. Processing and distribution of special medical emergency carts and Urology carts are also key responsibilities, along with assisting Service Window customers and monitoring supplies as needed. Other duties may be assigned.
