CSPT - Certified Sterile Processing Technician - FT
About The Position
The Certified Sterile Processing Technician (CSPT) is responsible for inspecting, assembling, and evaluating surgical instruments and instrument sets to ensure quality, determine the need for repair or replacement, validate completeness, and facilitate effective sterilization. This role involves operating sterilization equipment, performing decontamination of soiled instruments, and maintaining proper inventory levels. The technician will also perform quality assurance audits of peers. Requirements
- Currently certified as a Certified Sterile Processing and Distribution Technician (CSPDT) with the Certification Board of Sterile Processing and Distribution (CBSPD) or Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) with the Healthcare Sterile Processing Association (HSPA) required.
- 1 year of applicable cumulative job specific experience required.
- Note: Required professional licensure/certification can be used in lieu of education or experience, if applicable.
Responsibilities
- Inspect, assemble and evaluate all surgical instruments and instrument sets to ensure quality, determine need for repair/replacement, validate completeness of set, and facilitate effective sterilization.
- Operate sterilization equipment and inspect instruments, equipment, and containers to ensure cleanliness and proper functioning.
- Perform decontamination of soiled instruments, sterilization containers and equipment according to instructions for use (IFUs) and established protocols.
- Correct instrument sets according to current standards, established count sheets and/or instrument tracking systems.
- Maintain proper levels of inventory to ensure availability for case carts.
- Perform regular quality assurance program audits of peers.
