About The Position

A-Team Solutions is seeking Sterile Processing Technicians for full-time positions at the VA Medical Center in East Orange, NJ. Evening and Night shifts are available Monday-Friday. The Sterile Processing Supply (SPS) technician will provide timely and accurate submissions of reprocessed items, with a complete understanding of universal precautions and infection control and its effect on patient care and employee safety.

Requirements

Working knowledge of medical and surgical terminology including surgical procedures and human anatomy and physiology
Understands aseptic principles and techniques
Follows standard operating procedures without deviation
A minimum of two (2) years of experience prior to beginning at the VAMC
Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) certified from Healthcare Sterile Processing Association (HSPA)
Graduate from a recognized CRCST or Tech program with 2+ years of SPS experience
CPR/BLS certified through American Heart
Current, unrestricted licensures in a state, territory or commonwealth of the United States or the District of Columbia

Responsibilities

Knowledge of surgical instrumentation
Collecting contaminated items from user sites
Sorting, inspecting, and processing instrumentation
Use of the Spaulding System to apply proper cleaning techniques
Knowledge of cleaning products
Compliant with the VA Standard Operational Procedures as well as OSHA, AAMI, and IAHCSMM safe practices
Utilizing quality assurance measures (biologic, chemical and mechanical)
Packaging small items in peel-packs
Assembling trays/instruments for effective sterilization
Adept in the operation of steam, and cold sterilization
Adept in the cleaning and high-level disinfection of endoscopes
Maintaining log book entries
