About The Position

Tryfacta is seeking a Certified Sterile Processing Technician Sterile Processing for our client in Portland, OR 97216. This is a 13 Weeks contract assignment. The role involves ensuring surgical instruments and equipment are properly decontaminated, cleaned, inspected, assembled, packaged, and sterilized. Responsibilities include performing sterilization using autoclaves, conducting daily sterilizer testing, inspecting instruments, reprocessing instruments from various departments, and maintaining accurate documentation. The technician will also assist with OR room turnover, pick and stage instruments for procedures, and maintain a clean and safe sterile processing environment. This position provides support to multiple departments including the OR, recovery, outpatient endoscopy, and central sterile, and requires adherence to infection-control, sterilization, and safety standards.

Requirements

High School Diploma/GED or equivalent – Required
Sterile Processing Technician certification – Required
Experience in sterile processing, instrument decontamination, assembly, packaging, and sterilization
Knowledge of surgical instruments, sterilization procedures, and infection-control practices
Experience with autoclaves, biological indicators, test packs, and sterilization monitoring
Ability to perform instrument inspection, tray assembly, and case cart preparation
Ability to maintain accurate logs, documentation, and quality-control records
Ability to work effectively with OR, nursing, and perioperative teams
Strong attention to detail and ability to follow safety and infection-prevention standards.

Nice To Haves

Associate's/Technical Degree or equivalent education/experience – Preferred
Experience with endoscope and ancillary department instrument reprocessing is beneficial

Responsibilities

Decontaminate, clean, inspect, assemble, package, and sterilize surgical instruments and equipment.
Assemble surgical instrument sets, trays, and basins accurately.
Perform sterilization using autoclaves and other appropriate methods, including immediate-use sterilization when required.
Conduct daily sterilizer testing, including test packs, biological indicators, and diagnostic testing for endoscope processors.
Inspect instruments for proper function, safety, and cleanliness before sterilization.
Reprocess instruments from the ER, Respiratory Therapy, Radiology, Physical Therapy, and other departments.
Process and document loaner instruments and maintain tracking logs.
Maintain biological incubators and document biological test results.
Assist with OR room turnover, terminal cleaning, and preparation for surgical cases.
Pick and stage instruments and supplies for upcoming procedures.
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe sterile processing environment.
Provide sterile processing support to the OR, recovery, outpatient endoscopy, and central sterile departments.
Follow applicable infection-control, sterilization, and safety standards.
Perform other related duties as assigned by the Perioperative Services Manager or RN.
