About The Position

The Temporary Certified Special Education Teacher will work in an elementary emotional support private school setting, providing a nurturing environment for children to maintain academic instruction while learning pro-social skills. The teacher is responsible for implementing the Individual Education Plan (IEP)/Comprehensive Evaluation Report (CER) for each student and developing daily lesson plans that incorporate Common Core teaching standards for Pennsylvania. CGRC’s Elementary Education Services (EES) Program is a licensed, private Special Education School for children in grades K-8 in Delaware County who are struggling in their public school classroom. The school offers a structured academic environment with a strong emphasis on social, emotional, and behavioral development, aiming to equip each child with the skills necessary to return successfully to their public school district. The program includes structured academics, group therapy, individual counseling, and on-site psychiatric services to create a safe and supportive environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor Degree in a counseling, psychology, social work, education or human services.

Responsibilities

  • Utilize assessment phase as a method of developing a therapeutic relationship with child.
  • Develop IEP’s for each child and attends ongoing reviews for the child.
  • Develop, plan, and facilitate weekly thematic units to meet the child’s IEP goals.
  • Administer standardized testing when appropriate.
  • Complete all necessary paperwork prior to IEP meeting.
  • Complete progress monitoring on all assigned clients.
  • Develop and implement the behavior modification program in assigned classroom.
  • Provide individual/group instruction to children enrolled in the CGRC program.
  • Demonstrate therapeutic relationship skills including an understanding of boundary issues and confidentiality.
  • Attend to issues of cultural, racial, ethnic, and gender diversity as they impact the course of treatment.
  • Participate in multi-disciplinary team meetings relating to an individual child, including case review meetings to access, provide, or coordinate mental health and education services for the client.
