About The Position

Achievers Early College Prep Charter School (AECP) is New Jersey’s first public charter school for students in grades 6-12 that provides them with the unique opportunity to take a course of study in STEM fields and Digital Media Arts following the 8th grade and earn up to 60 college credits, enabling students to redefine the high school experience and graduate with skills, experiences, and content mastery that’s significant to them in the market place and the world beyond. This role is essential for supporting students' academic and personal development within this innovative educational environment.

Requirements

  • Must hold certification as School Social Worker from NJDOE.
  • Criminal background check as required by the state and the district.
  • Experience functioning as a member of a Child Study Team in New Jersey.
  • Ability to work independently and remain focused on task completion.
  • Excellent ability to interact and communicate with students of all ages, parents, and school personnel.
  • Strong written communication skills.
  • Excellent motivation and ability to complete a multi-step process involving many participants.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Computer access and literacy to be able to use relevant web-based software.
  • Proactive; problem-solver; and self-driven.
  • Good organizational and time-management skills.
  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • Minimum of one to two years teaching experience in an effective urban charter school.
  • Valid NJ Substitute Teaching Credential (minimum level of certification).

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in school(s) which rely heavily on intervention, literacy, and learning as a means to dramatically increasing student achievement develop content knowledge and skills (preferred).

Responsibilities

  • Attends Assessment Plan meetings for all students referred for Initial evaluation (in-person and remotely).
  • Completes social assessment, creates report, and submits to Child Study Team Manager per Achievers ECP procedures. (In-person and Remotely)
  • Maintains caseload in compliance with state timelines and other state and school guidance.
  • Completes Case Management responsibilities as assigned.
  • Attends Eligibility Conference for Initial and Re-evaluations if requested.
  • Completes all required paperwork in accordance with mandated timelines.
  • Works in compliance with the Catapult Learning Policy and Procedure manual for Evaluation; Determination services in New Jersey.
  • Remains current with regard to NJ Code and procedures regarding E&D services provided to nonpublic school students.
  • Counsel students with IEPs.
  • Screens for signs of trauma and counsels students with trauma and other mental health needs.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned.
