About The Position

The Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) will provide evaluation of and care for patients with respiratory insufficiencies. This role involves assessing patients for appropriate treatment, developing and implementing care plans, monitoring patient condition and equipment, and performing advanced respiratory care modalities. The CRT will also evaluate respiratory practice, administer medications, and educate patients and families. Additionally, the role includes assisting with equipment maintenance, managing departmental inventory, processing equipment according to sterilization procedures, and responding to emergency resuscitation team calls.

Requirements

  • BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
  • Licensed Respiratory Therapist credentialed from the Alabama Board of Respiratory Therapy obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required.
  • Certified Respiratory Therapist credentialed from the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required.
  • Graduate from an accredited School of Respiratory Therapy.

Responsibilities

  • Provide evaluation of and care for patients with respiratory insufficiencies.
  • Assess patient for appropriate type and frequency of treatment and develops a plan of care based on diagnosis.
  • Implement and monitor patient care plan and equipment.
  • Monitor, record and communicate patient condition.
  • Perform advanced respiratory care modalities.
  • Evaluate respiratory practice, administration of medications, and treatment based on patient outcomes.
  • Educate the patient and family about the health condition and provide information about community support groups and other available programs.
  • Assist with care, calibration and maintenance of all equipment.
  • Participate in maintaining departmental inventory levels for supplies and equipment.
  • Process equipment per established cleaning/sterilization procedures.
  • Respond to emergency resuscitation team calls.
