About The Position

The Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT), also identified as RCP I, performs respiratory therapeutic and pulmonary diagnostic procedures as ordered by a physician, under the direction and authorization of the medical director and cardiopulmonary director or manager. The role emphasizes assessment, planning, implementation, and documentation of patient care, with attention to age- and population-specific needs. In the absence of a supervisor, the therapist may be designated Lead RCP and take responsibility for the section or department during the shift.

This full-time position is in the Cardiopulmonary / Respiratory Therapy department at Holy Family Medical Center in Des Plaines, Illinois. The schedule is nights, consisting of three 12-hour shifts. The posting lists compensation of $33.50–$45.09 per hour, shift differentials, and a sign-on or relocation bonus opportunity of up to $15,000, subject to eligibility and terms.

Requirements

• Current State Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) license required.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (ARC) required upon hire and must be maintained.
• Adult Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification from the AHA or ARC required upon hire and must be maintained, or obtained within 90 days of hire.
• High school diploma or equivalent required.

Nice To Haves

• Associate degree or Bachelor of Science degree preferred.
• Two years of acute care experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform respiratory therapeutic procedures as ordered by the physician.
• Perform pulmonary diagnostic procedures as ordered by the physician.
• Assess, plan, implement, and document patient care while considering age- and population-specific patient needs.
