About The Position

The Resource Certified Teacher role collaborates with the Education Team to provide targeted, small group instruction or individualized instruction – by adapting, modifying and creating customized learning tools, to address the youth’s specific cognitive needs within the appropriate grade or academic level; adhering to recognized curriculum standards, and compliance with instructional guidelines as defined by the local School District and educational systems; while providing a safe and successful learning environment for youth, while encouraging social and emotional development through the achievement of academic and personal goals.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Education, the academic discipline being delivered, or related field
  • Possess and maintain current Teaching Certification in assigned subject area – reading and/or math preferred, or agreement to earn
  • Teaching or coursework experience, or other similar activity in area of primary instruction required
  • Experience working with youth preferred

Nice To Haves

  • Special Education Certification (ESE), a plus

Responsibilities

  • Provide professional instruction and teaching to a diverse population of youth as appropriate to the specified course or discipline and/or academic level, adapting, modifying, and creating customized learning tools to address the youth’s specific cognitive needs.
  • Evaluate youth and monitor their progress, analyze testing data to determine if a youth needs a specialized learning plan, and provide.
  • Collaborate with the education teachers to provide the targeted, small-group instructions or individualized instruction based on the youth’s educational and emotional development.
  • Establish small groups (1-5 youth) to address and bring deficiencies to current grade level.
  • Draft goals and prepare progress reports.
  • Adhere to established standards regarding curriculum delivery, educational guidelines, and quality assurance requirements as established by AMIkids and the applicable contract providers.
  • Effectively implement AMIkids Way (Kids First, Safety, and Family) and key elements of Positive Youth Development (Relationships, Meaningful Participation, Community Involvement, and Challenged & Engaged Programming) and the AMIkids Personal Growth Model (PGM) in all interactions with students.
  • Actively ensure all interactions reflect Kids First, Safety, Family, Relationships, Meaningful Participation, Challenge and Engaged environment, and Community Involvement.
  • Interactions with youth shall maintain an environment that provides a physically/emotionally safe space for youth and effective learning, growth, and progress toward individualized goals.
  • Model supportive, consistent, respectful behavior with all parties to ensure an atmosphere that fosters healthy relationships, trust, and mutual respect; set clear boundaries and provide observations and reflection to youth.
  • Step in and provide coverage for the classroom as needed.
  • Participate in Team Member meetings and professional development opportunities.
  • Provide appropriate accommodations based on youth’s IEP and 504 plans.
  • Maintain accurate education records (e.g., attendance, grades, lesson planning, progress monitoring).
  • Use authorized state-mandated training methods to prevent and intervene in youth altercations and/or incidents.
  • Serve as advisor and positive role model for youth at all times.
  • Attend and maintain appropriate crisis intervention/de-escalation training and certification as defined by state and contract requirements.
  • Attend and maintain CPR and First Aid certification by a nationally recognized organization.
  • Attend required training/professional development events and maintain all appropriate certification(s) and license(s).
  • Maintain appropriate certification(s) and license(s).
  • Assist with special projects and other duties as assigned.
