About The Position

The Resource Certified Teacher role collaborates with the Education Team to provide targeted, small group instruction or individualized instruction – by adapting, modifying and creating customized learning tools, to address the youth’s specific cognitive needs within the appropriate grade or academic level; adhering to recognized curriculum standards, and compliance with instructional guidelines as defined by the local School District and educational systems; while providing a safe and successful learning environment for youth, while encouraging social and emotional development through the achievement of academic and personal goals.

Requirements

Bachelor’s Degree in Education, the academic discipline being delivered, or related field
Possess and maintain current Teaching Certification in assigned subject area – reading and/or math preferred, or agreement to earn
Teaching or coursework experience, or other similar activity in area of primary instruction required
Experience working with youth preferred

Nice To Haves

Special Education Certification (ESE), a plus

Responsibilities

Provide professional instruction and teaching to a diverse population of youth as appropriate to the specified course or discipline and/or academic level, adapting, modifying, and creating customized learning tools to address the youth’s specific cognitive needs.
Evaluate youth and monitor their progress, analyze testing data to determine if a youth needs a specialized learning plan, and provide.
Collaborate with the education teachers to provide the targeted, small-group instructions or individualized instruction based on the youth’s educational and emotional development.
Establish small groups (1-5 youth) to address and bring deficiencies to current grade level.
Draft goals and prepare progress reports.
Adhere to established standards regarding curriculum delivery, educational guidelines, and quality assurance requirements as established by AMIkids and the applicable contract providers.
Effectively implement AMIkids Way (Kids First, Safety, and Family) and key elements of Positive Youth Development (Relationships, Meaningful Participation, Community Involvement, and Challenged & Engaged Programming) and the AMIkids Personal Growth Model (PGM) in all interactions with students.
Actively ensure all interactions reflect Kids First, Safety, Family, Relationships, Meaningful Participation, Challenge and Engaged environment, and Community Involvement.
Interactions with youth shall maintain an environment that provides a physically/emotionally safe space for youth and effective learning, growth, and progress toward individualized goals.
Model supportive, consistent, respectful behavior with all parties to ensure an atmosphere that fosters healthy relationships, trust, and mutual respect; set clear boundaries and provide observations and reflection to youth.
Step in and provide coverage for the classroom as needed.
Participate in Team Member meetings and professional development opportunities.
Provide appropriate accommodations based on youth’s IEP and 504 plans.
Maintain accurate education records (e.g., attendance, grades, lesson planning, progress monitoring).
Use authorized state-mandated training methods to prevent and intervene in youth altercations and/or incidents.
Serve as advisor and positive role model for youth at all times.
Attend and maintain appropriate crisis intervention/de-escalation training and certification as defined by state and contract requirements.
Attend and maintain CPR and First Aid certification by a nationally recognized organization.
Attend required training/professional development events and maintain all appropriate certification(s) and license(s).
Maintain appropriate certification(s) and license(s).
Assist with special projects and other duties as assigned.
