About The Position

AMIkids is seeking a dedicated Certified Resource Teacher to make a difference with the youth in the community. This role involves working in smaller class sizes, creating fun and engaging lesson plans, and contributing to an organization that makes a lasting impact on kids. AMIkids has served over 160,000 kids and their families since 1969, helping youth realize their full potential and become valuable members of their community.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Education, the academic discipline being delivered, or related field.
  • Possess and maintain current Teaching Certification in assigned subject area – reading and/or math preferred, or agreement to earn.
  • Teaching or coursework experience, or other similar activity in area of primary instruction required.
  • Experience working with youth preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide professional instruction and teaching to a diverse population of youth, adapting, modifying, and creating customized learning tools to address specific cognitive needs.
  • Evaluate youth, monitor their progress, analyze testing data to determine the need for specialized learning plans, and provide appropriate accommodations based on IEP and 504 plans.
  • Collaborate with the education team to provide targeted, small-group or individualized instruction based on educational and emotional development.
  • Establish small groups (1-5 youth) to address and bring deficiencies to current grade level.
  • Draft goals and prepare progress reports.
  • Adhere to established standards regarding curriculum delivery, educational guidelines, and quality assurance requirements.
  • Implement AMIkids Way (Kids First, Safety, and Family) and key elements of Positive Youth Development and the AMIkids Personal Growth Model in all interactions.
  • Ensure all interactions reflect Kids First, Safety, Family, Relationships, Meaningful Participation, Challenge and Engaged environment, and Community Involvement.
  • Maintain an environment that provides a physically/emotionally safe space for youth and effective learning, growth, and progress toward individualized goals.
  • Model supportive, consistent, respectful behavior, set clear boundaries, and provide observations and reflection to youth.
  • Provide coverage for the classroom as needed.
  • Participate in Team Member meetings and professional development opportunities.
  • Maintain accurate education records (e.g., attendance, grades, lesson planning, progress monitoring).
  • Use authorized state-mandated training methods to prevent and intervene in youth altercations and/or incidents.
  • Serve as advisor and positive role model for youth at all times.
  • Attend and maintain appropriate crisis intervention/de-escalation training and certification.
  • Attend and maintain CPR and First Aid certification.
  • Attend required training/professional development events and maintain all appropriate certification(s) and license(s).
  • Assist with special projects and other duties as assigned.
