About The Position

Central Maine Healthcare (CMH) is an integrated healthcare delivery system serving approximately 400,000 residents across central, western, and midcoast Maine. The system includes Central Maine Medical Center (CMMC), Bridgton Hospital, and Rumford Hospital. CMH is also home to the Maine College of Health Professions. The Certified Residential Medication Aide (CRMA) administers medications to residents in accordance with rules and regulations for Residential Care Facilities, under the supervision of a licensed nurse. They perform routine daily tasks to maintain resident health, comfort, and well-being, functioning within established policies and regulations. Working contacts include residents, families, medical professionals, and facility staff. The CRMA has assigned responsibility for decisions specific to their functions under the direction of a licensed nurse and may perform resident care when not utilized as a CRMA.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Must have a Residential Care Specialist 1, or Personal Support Specialist (PSS) Certificate. May be trained within 4 months of employment.
  • Must have state approved 40-hour certificated medication administration certification.
  • Must possess basic mathematical skills to be able to accurately administer proper medication dosage.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience in long-term care resident care is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Administers medications to residents in accordance with the rules and regulations governing the licensing and functioning of Residential Care Facilities.
  • Performs these tasks as ordered by physicians, under the supervision of a licensed nurse, in accordance with state and federal rules and regulations, and consistent with facility policies.
  • Performs routine daily tasks required to maintain the health, comfort, and well-being of residents.
  • Functions within the constraints of established policy and procedure consistent with accepted/allowed standards of practice and state and federal regulations.
  • Performs resident care when not being utilized as a CRMA.
