About The Position

The Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) at Arrowhead Orthopaedics is responsible for preparing and administering general anesthetics and pain medication, adjusting as needed before, during, and after surgery and other procedures. This role involves maintaining patient records, working closely with surgical specialists, and performing various medical procedures. The CRNA also provides post-anesthesia care, monitors patient vital signs, and communicates effectively with patients and their families.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
  • Doctorate in Nurse Anesthesia (DNP or DNAP) from a COA accredited program.
  • Current Nurse Practitioner licensure and certification in a relevant specialty (e.g., Pain Management, Family, or Adult).
  • Minimum 1-2 years of full-time clinical experience in acute care or intensive care unit.
  • Current RN License in State of California.
  • Passing Score on the National Certification Examination (NCE).
  • BLS, SCLS, and PALS Certification.
  • Ability to lift, position, or assist patients up to 50 lbs.
  • Manual dexterity for procedures, suture, and equipment handling.
  • Visual acuity for reviewing imaging, charts, and surgical work.

  • Previous experience in pain management, palliative care, or a related field.
  • Strong clinical assessment skills and the ability to develop comprehensive treatment plans.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Occasional travel to multiple clinic locations within the medical group.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares and administers general anesthetics and pain medication.
  • Adjusts medication as needed before, during, and after surgery and other procedures.
  • Maintains patient records.
  • Works closely with surgical specialists.
  • Performs venous and arterial punctures.
  • May place spinals and A-lines.
  • Performs pre-anesthesia patient evaluation.
  • Provides post-anesthesia care and evaluation.
  • Provides and monitors mechanical ventilation.
  • Communicates with patients, their families, and caregivers.
  • Reacts appropriately to adverse reactions and complications.
  • Monitors patient fluid, blood, and electrolyte balance, and other vital signs and critical functions during procedures.
  • Performs tracheal intubation, airway management, and extubation.
  • Monitors patients following procedures to determine when they can be safely moved from one stage of recovery to the next.
  • Takes detailed medical history to determine possible allergic or negative reactions to medication.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
