About The Position

The Brigham and Women's Hospital, Inc. is seeking enthusiastic and collegial team players to join their growing Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists practice. This practice consists of 20 CRNAs (full time, part time, and per-diem) who work in the Anesthesia Care Team model across various locations and specialties within 47 ORs, as well as out-of-OR locations, OB, and a surgi-center in Foxborough. The role involves ongoing professional development, supported by a generous education allowance for areas like quality improvement, academics, and research. The hospital offers flexible schedules with no weekends, holidays, or on-call duties, emphasizing work-life balance. A Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) is responsible for the pre-operative, intra-operative, and immediate post-operative care of patients requiring anesthesia for various procedures. This includes pre-operative assessments, anesthetic care plans, equipment management, monitoring, airway management, delivery of anesthesia (general, regional, and monitored anesthetic care), patient induction, maintenance, and emergence, immediate post-operative care, and post-operative assessments in collaboration with a physician. These services are provided in main operating rooms, Labor and Delivery, and designated 'Out of OR' anesthesia locations. CRNAs also have a teaching function for Student Registered Nurse Anesthetists from Northeastern University. Clinical research opportunities may be available but are not a department requirement. All CRNAs must adhere to federal, state, hospital, and departmental guidelines.

Requirements

  • Diploma Nursing required.
  • Master's Degree Nurse Anesthesia Practitioner required.
  • Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist [CRNA (NBCRNA)] - National Board of Certification and Recertification of Nurse Anesthetists (NBCRNA) required.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification required.
  • Evidence of analytic thinking necessary to care for a group of patients.
  • Demonstrated observational skills and ability to set priorities.
  • Ability to function under stress with good interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Effective skills in applying hospital standards in area of service, teamwork, communication, respect for others, and time/priority management.
  • Physical abilities and manual dexterity to function as an anesthesia care provider.
  • Ability to administer all types of anesthetics using a variety of techniques.

Responsibilities

  • Pre-operative, intra-operative, and immediate post-operative care of the patient requiring anesthesia for surgical, medical, therapeutic, or diagnostic procedures.
  • Conducting pre-operative assessments.

  • Assembling and caring for specialized equipment.
  • Applying, inserting, and interpreting data from anesthetic monitors.
  • Managing airways.
