Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist
About The Position
The Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) will be responsible for providing comprehensive anesthesia care. This includes pre-anesthetic evaluation, induction, maintenance, and emergence from anesthesia. The CRNA will also perform preoperative and intra-operative care, manage airway, insert peripheral venous catheters, and manage Bier Blocks. They will provide appropriate non-invasive monitoring, evaluate patient response during emergence, and provide post-anesthesia follow-up evaluation. This includes initiating and administering respiratory and cardiovascular support in the post-anesthesia period. The position is for a 13-week contract at Vassar Brothers Medical Center in Poughkeepsie, NY.
Requirements
- Graduated from an accredited program in nurse anesthesia education.
- Certified by the National Board of Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists (NBCRNA).
- Licensed as a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist with a current, valid, unrestricted license in the state of New York.
- At least one full year (12 months) of experience as a CRNA.
- Possess BLS, ACLS, and PALS certification.
Responsibilities
- Perform pre-anesthetic evaluation, including health history and physical exam.
- Select, obtain, order, and administer pre-anesthetics medications.
- Obtain informed consent for anesthesia.
- Administer anesthesia induction, maintenance, and emergence.
- Obtain, prepare, and use all equipment, monitors, supplies, and drugs for anesthesia administration.
- Perform and order safety checks as needed.
- Select, obtain, or administer anesthetics, adjuvant drugs, accessory drugs, fluids, and blood products.
- Perform all aspects of airway management.
- Insert peripheral venous catheters.
- Manage Bier Blocks.
- Provide appropriate non-invasive monitoring modalities utilizing current standards and techniques.
- Evaluate patient response during emergence from anesthesia and institute pharmacological or supportive treatment to ensure patient stability during transfer.
- Provide post anesthesia follow-up evaluation of the patient's response to anesthesia and surgical experience.
- Initiate and administer respiratory support to ensure adequate ventilation and oxygenation in the post-anesthesia period.
- Initiate and administer pharmacological or fluid support of the cardiovascular system during the post-anesthetic period.
