About The Position

The Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) is responsible for pre-anesthetic evaluation, including preparing a health history, conducting a physical exam, requesting diagnostic studies, and administering pre-anesthetic medications. They obtain informed consent and manage anesthesia induction, maintenance, and emergence. The CRNA also performs preoperative and intra-operative care, including preparing and using all necessary equipment, monitors, supplies, and drugs for anesthesia administration. They select and administer anesthetics, adjuvant drugs, accessory drugs, fluids, and blood products. The CRNA is responsible for all aspects of airway management, inserting peripheral venous catheters, and managing Bier Blocks. They provide appropriate non-invasive monitoring, evaluate patient response during emergence, and institute necessary treatments for stability during transfer. Post-anesthesia follow-up evaluation of the patient's response to anesthesia and surgical experience is also a key responsibility. The CRNA initiates and administers respiratory support for adequate ventilation and oxygenation, and pharmacological or fluid support of the cardiovascular system during the post-anesthesia period.

Requirements

Graduated from an accredited program in nurse anesthesia education.
Certified or recertified by the National Board of Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists (NBCRNA).
Licensed as a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist with a current, valid, unrestricted license in the state of New York.
At least one full year (12 months) of experience as a CRNA.
Possess BLS, ACLS, and PALS certification.

Nice To Haves

Experience with Bread and Butter cases, Radiology, Robotics, and GI.
Experience with hearts, OB, or pediatrics (if applicable to case mix).

Provide post-anesthesia follow-up evaluation.
Initiate and administer respiratory support for adequate ventilation and oxygenation.
Initiate and administer pharmacological or fluid support of the cardiovascular system during the post-anesthesia period.
