About The Position

The St. Cloud VA Health Care System is seeking a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) to provide care to approximately 37,000 Veterans annually. This facility has an active research program focused on improving health outcomes for Veterans and the nation, with major research areas including Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, Nursing, and Polytrauma Systems of Care. The St. Cloud VA Medical Center is one of the few remaining World War I hospitals still in active service.

Requirements

Graduate from an approved School of Nursing.
Hold an unencumbered current state licensure as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse.
Maintain board certification by the Council on Certification of Nurse Anesthetists.
Hold a current license to practice medicine in any State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States or the District of Columbia.
At least one full year (12 months) experience as a CRNA.
BLS and ACLS certification through the American Heart Association.

Responsibilities

Perform Pre-anesthetic evaluation, including health history, physical exam, and ordering diagnostic studies.
Administer pre-anesthetic medications and obtain informed consent.
Manage anesthesia induction, maintenance, and emergence.
Perform preoperative and Intra-operative Care.
Prepare and utilize all necessary equipment, monitors, supplies, and drugs for anesthesia administration.
Perform safety checks on equipment.
Select, obtain, or administer anesthetics, adjuvant drugs, accessory drugs, fluids, and blood products.
Perform all aspects of airway management.
Insert peripheral venous catheters.
Manage Bier Blocks.
Provide appropriate non-invasive monitoring modalities.
Evaluate patient response during emergence from anesthesia and provide necessary treatment.
Provide post-anesthesia follow-up evaluation.
Initiate and administer respiratory support for adequate ventilation and oxygenation in the post-anesthesia period.
Initiate and administer pharmacological or fluid support of the cardiovascular system during the post-anesthetics.
