About The Position

This position is for a locum Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) to provide coverage for a period of 13 weeks, with the potential for extension. The role involves working in both a hospital and ambulatory surgery center setting. The hospital has 460 beds, with 17 operating rooms at the medical center and 5 at the ambulatory surgery center, plus 3 labor & delivery rooms. The work schedule is primarily Monday to Friday, with occasional weekend coverage (maximum once a month). Shift options include either 5x8 hour shifts or 4x10 hour shifts. Proficiency with healthy pediatric patients is required, and experience in obstetrics is preferred. The caseload is primarily lower acuity cases, with no critical pediatric patients. Typical cases include orthopedics, pediatrics, urology, gastrointestinal procedures, interventional radiology, head and neck surgeries, catheterizations, spinal surgeries, and epidurals. There are no on-call responsibilities. The patient load is variable. The staffing ratio is 1:1 CRNA to Anesthesiologist per shift. The facility uses the EPIC system for Electronic Medical Records (EMR). Credentialing is estimated to take 90 days post-application submission.

Requirements

  • Board Certification
  • BLS certified by the American Heart Association
  • ACLS certified by the American Heart Association
  • PALS certified by the American Heart Association
  • Valid California nursing license
  • Proficiency with healthy pediatric patients

Responsibilities

  • Provide anesthesia services in a hospital and ambulatory surgery center setting.
  • Manage anesthesia for various procedures including orthopedics, pediatrics, urology, gastrointestinal procedures, interventional radiology, head and neck surgeries, catheterizations, spinal surgeries, and epidurals.
  • Ensure proficiency with healthy pediatric patients.
  • Utilize the EPIC EMR system.
  • Collaborate with Anesthesiologists in a 1:1 ratio.
