About The Position

This role involves independently overseeing the anesthesia process for patients in an inpatient treatment facility that operates 24/7. Daily shifts vary in length (8, 10, or 12 hours) and are determined by surgical and patient care demands. The position requires a comprehensive understanding of anesthesia management, from pre-anesthetic assessments to post-operative recovery, including the development and execution of individualized anesthetic plans. Meticulous documentation of all anesthetic events is crucial.

Requirements

  • Master’s or Doctorate degree in nursing, with graduation from a program accredited by the Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Programs (COA).
  • A minimum of 2 years of active CRNA practice, with recent engagement within the last 6 months.
  • Experience must encompass cases involving General Anesthesia and Obstetric (Neuraxial) Anesthesia.
  • Must hold current certification as a Registered Nurse Anesthetist from the National Board for Certification and Recertification for Nurse Anesthetists (NBCRNA).
  • Must hold a current Registered Nursing (RN) License and CRNA License from any U.S. state.
  • Hold an unrestricted RN License from any state.
  • Maintain current certifications in BLS, ACLS or ALS, PALS, NRP, and ATLS, following guidelines from the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross.
  • Candidates must be able to successfully pass a government background check/security clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Independently oversee the anesthesia process for patients, including conducting preoperative evaluations, preparing patients, administering monitored anesthesia care (MAC), regional anesthesia, general anesthesia, and neuraxial blocks.
  • Monitor and address patient reactions during anesthesia and surgery, managing intravenous fluid therapy, performing invasive monitoring, and executing post-operative evaluations as authorized by the MTF Credentials Committee.
  • Conduct comprehensive pre-anesthetic assessments, including securing informed consent, coordinating necessary consultations or diagnostic studies, and prescribing pre-anesthetic medications.
  • Formulate and execute individualized anesthetic plans, ensuring safety and efficacy tailored to the patient's clinical profile.
  • Perform a thorough evaluation immediately prior to anesthesia induction, reviewing the medical record, relevant laboratory data, and assessing pre-anesthesia medications, as well as any changes in the patient's condition.
  • Maintain the patient’s physiological homeostasis, addressing any abnormal responses to anesthesia or surgical interventions.
  • Collect and interpret physiological data by appropriately applying noninvasive monitoring techniques.
  • Strategically manage the patient’s airway and pulmonary function throughout the anesthetic process.
  • Oversee the patient’s emergence from anesthesia, ensuring homeostasis, alleviating pain and side effects, and preventing or addressing complications through judicious selection and administration of medications, fluids, or ventilatory support.
  • Diligently document all relevant events during the induction, maintenance, and emergence phases of anesthesia, including dosages and durations of anesthetic agents, additional medications, intravenous fluids, and blood components.
  • Ensure post-anesthetic notes include at least one entry detailing the presence or absence of anesthesia-related complications.
