About The Position

NYU Grossman School of Medicine is seeking a Per Diem Certified Pulmonary Function Technologist (FGP) - Manhattan, Float. This role is responsible for ensuring and coordinating the delivery of prescribed pulmonary function testing services through direct performance of laboratory studies and supervision of pulmonary function laboratory staff.

Requirements

Associate's Degree or equivalent in respiratory care as recognized by the New York State Board for Respiratory Therapy, required.
New York State Registered Respiratory Therapist license or Respiratory Therapist Technician license, certification by the National Board for Respiratory Care (CRT), with CPFT specialty credential within a year of hire, required.
Computer competency, including basic understanding of, and ability to work with, Microsoft Windows based pulmonary function software programs.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Qualified candidates must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.

Responsibilities

Performs Pulmonary Function Testing, including FVL, FVC, Lung Volumes, DLCO, MVV as required.
Checks and validates physician order for testing procedure.
Performs Cardiopulmonary Exercise Testing.
Maintains testing equipment.
Generates appropriate paperwork to permit the interpretation of Pulmonary Function tests.
Performs Methacholine Challenges.
Efficiently schedules patients.
Reviews schedule with Pharmacy to insure optimal utilization of Provocholine.
