About The Position

Shawnee Health is seeking a Certified Professional Coder for its remote billing office. The position reports directly to the Assistant Revenue Cycle Manager. The coder completes coding and charge posting for provider specialties, payer types, hospital-related visits, and surgeries, using patient encounter information and physician and medical-record notes. The role also involves understanding applicable coding rules and regulations and conducting coding audits, with feedback to clinicians for educational and compliance purposes.

Requirements

High school diploma.
Certified Professional Coder certification (CPC or CPC-A).
Maintain continuing education units (CEUs) for CPC certification.
Must reside in Illinois.
Must live within a 50-mile radius of Carterville, Illinois.

Responsibilities

Complete coding and posting of charges for all provider specialties and payer types using patient encounter information as directed by physicians and medical-record notes.
Complete coding and posting for all hospital-related visits and surgeries.
Maintain a comprehensive understanding of coding rules and regulations from CMS, AMA, ADA, and Medicaid.
Conduct coding audits and report feedback to clinicians for educational and compliance purposes.
