About The Position

This position is responsible for maintaining pharmacy systems and technology, including inventory systems and automated medication counting machines. The role involves monitoring inventory levels, calibrating machines, and troubleshooting issues to ensure accurate data and system compliance. The technician will also maintain and track medication inventory, ensuring proper storage, restocking, and rotation. Additionally, the position supports facility operations through reporting and paperwork, ensuring productivity and pharmaceutical integrity. The role promotes the pharmacy's professional reputation by assisting the pharmacist in prescription fulfillment, handling claims and returns, and maintaining a safe work environment. A key responsibility is ensuring the efficient fulfillment of pharmacy prescriptions in an automated central fill pharmacy to meet daily production and quality goals. This includes using scanners to select products, verifying details, entering expiration dates and lot numbers, labeling prescriptions, and preparing packages for distribution in a fast-paced environment. The technician must maintain the quality, accuracy, and integrity of inventory by utilizing automated systems, adhering to inventory control procedures, auditing and testing equipment, and managing hazardous waste, recalled, and expired pharmaceuticals. The role also requires compliance with company policies, procedures, and ethical standards, and completing work assignments by using policies, data, and resources, while collaborating with others and adapting to change.

Requirements

Meets state requirements to work as a Pharmacy Technician, such as minimum age, qualification, registration, certification, and/or licensure when required by the State Board of Pharmacy.
Holds an active/valid national certification certificate issued by PTCB (PTCE) or NHA (ExCPT).

Responsibilities

Maintains pharmacy systems and technology, including inventory systems and automated medication counting machines, by preparing informational and related records and reports to ensure accurate data and system compliance with policies and regulations.
Monitors inventory levels and expiration dates for pharmaceuticals, calibrates machines, and applies settings to pill or capsule specifications to minimize breakage, ensuring medications are continuously replenished by utilizing the computer and/or scanner screen and troubleshooting pill cell issues.
Maintains and tracks medication inventory by sorting, placing, and storing freight in appropriate locations, restocking and replenishing medication, reporting low stock levels, ensuring stock rotation on a first-in, first-out basis, performing inventory cycle counts, assisting with physical counts, creating reports using inventory information systems, and monitoring prescription inventory for expired pharmaceuticals.
Supports facility with reporting and paperwork to ensure productivity and pharmaceutical integrity by entering and modifying pharmaceutical data, processing and submitting paperwork, creating and maintaining documentation, identifying and resolving discrepancies, preparing reports of pharmacy activities and inventory, and informing management about incorrect or inefficient processes and improper service procedures.
Promotes and maintains the pharmacy's professional reputation and delivers patients with pharmacy products and services in accordance with local, state, and federal laws and corporate policies and procedures by assisting the pharmacist in the prescription fulfillment process, stocking and rotating merchandise, handling claims and returns, completing and securing paperwork, and maintaining a safe and clean work environment.
Ensures fulfillment of pharmacy prescriptions in an automated central fill pharmacy to maintain a continuous and consistent workflow to meet daily production and quality goals by using the scanner to identify and select pharmaceutical product and quantity, verifying product details, entering expiration date and lot numbers, labeling prescriptions, weighing medication for accuracy, counting or pouring medication, and preparing packages and distributing medications.
Maintains quality, accuracy, and integrity of inventory by utilizing automated inventory control scanner and system to track and ensure the timely and appropriate delivery and stocking of pharmaceuticals and supplies, ensuring adherence to and documentation of inventory control procedures, auditing and testing pill cell performance, managing pill cell information database, troubleshooting issues, identifying and properly discarding hazardous waste, processing recalled and expired pharmaceuticals, and disposing or processing return of outdated stock for credit.
Complies with company policies, procedures, and standards of ethics and integrity by implementing related action plans, using the Open Door Policy, and applying these in executing business processes and practices.
Completes work assignments and priorities by using policies, data, and resources, collaborating with managers, coworkers, customers, and other business partners, identifying priorities, deadlines, and expectations, carrying out tasks, communicating progress and information, determining and recommending ways to address improvement opportunities, and adapting to and learning from change, difficulties, and feedback.
