Under the direct supervision of a pharmacy supervisor and pharmacist, this position is responsible for performing daily operations within the Outpatient Pharmacy. This includes medication-related tasks such as packaging, preparation of all forms of medications, record keeping, and all aspects of drug distribution. The role also involves assisting with UMMMC Meds to Beds prescription intake and delivery, responding to provider inquiries about discharge prescriptions, processing prescriptions through the pharmacy computer system, and maintaining inventory by conducting daily cycle counts, receiving orders, and removing outdated items. The technician will interact with providers and patients to clarify orders and update them on prescription status, maintain required prescription records, enter new prescriptions and refills into the computer system, resolve common adjudication issues, and troubleshoot with insurance when necessary. Additionally, the role includes answering doctor and patient telephone calls, filling and maintaining the prescription dispensing robot, dispensing prescriptions through point of sale, maintaining a clean work area, assisting in quality indicator monitoring, and participating in yearly inventory. The position also involves identifying problems or areas for improvement, assisting supervisors with problem-solving projects, and participating in Continuous Quality Improvement activities.
