About The Position

Under the supervision of the Pharmacist, this role is responsible for filling physician's orders, assisting with drug therapy monitoring, stocking and dispensing pharmaceuticals, and managing controlled substances. The position also involves other duties as required or assigned.

Requirements

  • High School Graduate
  • Certified by the Texas State Board of Pharmacy
  • Typing speed of 45 wpm.
  • Familiar with operating computer and the ability to utilize company computer system.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to interact with the general public.
  • Working knowledge and competent capabilities in computer technology.
  • Certification of required C.E. Unit
  • Clear and understandable speech and the ability to hear.
  • Intermittent walking, sitting, standing.
  • Some bending, stooping, and reaching required.
  • Ability to understand and follow detailed written or verbal instructions or directions.

Nice To Haves

  • One year experience working as a pharmacy tech preferred.
  • References required.

Responsibilities

  • Promotes the mission, vision, and values of Muenster Hospital District.
  • Maintains HIPAA required and all other confidentiality while working with confidential matters on a daily basis.
  • Follows safety guidelines and all policies and procedures of MHD.
  • Under the supervision of a Pharmacist, prepares and labels pharmaceuticals for dispensing.
  • Assists patients who are dropping off or picking up prescription orders.
  • Enter prescription orders into the computer.
  • Collects correct personal and financial information from patients and accurately enters data into the computer.
  • Troubleshoots third party prescription claim on-line rejections.
  • Assists the Pharmacist in scheduling and maintaining work-flow.
  • Screens telephone calls for the Pharmacist.
  • Maintains proper storage and security conditions for drugs.
  • Orders and maintains inventory of drugs.
  • Verifies incoming orders with invoice.
  • Sends and receives facsimile messages on prescription refill authorization.
  • Cleans and helps maintain equipment and work area.
  • Provides service direct to patients and customers while maintaining a positive relations atmosphere.
  • Keeps current on changes occurring in Medicare, Medicaid, Worker’s Compensation, and other insurance carrier rules and regulations.
  • Maintains a positive employee relations atmosphere.
  • Performs duties as directed in support of department functions.
  • Enter and maintain personal time in time clock system.
  • Assist with annual inventory.
