About The Position

Join TriHealth as a Pharmacy Technician at Good Samaritan Hospital. This role supports medication preparation, distribution, and inventory management in a fast-paced hospital environment. You will work alongside experienced pharmacists and healthcare professionals, gaining exposure to various clinical settings. The position is full-time, night shift, with 10-hour shifts on a 7-on/7-off schedule. Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED
• Up to 1 year Pharmacy experience is required.
• Approved certification through Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PCTB) and ExCPT Certification by the National Healthcareer Association - National Pharmacy Technician Certification (CPhT) is required.
• Must be registered with the Ohio Board of Pharmacy as a Certified Pharmacy Technician.

Nice To Haves

• Associate or bachelor's Degree approved technical, professional, or vocational program
• 1 - 2 years Pharmacy; previous experience with computer applications and pharmacy automation is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Supports pharmacists in the preparation and distribution of medications by performing a variety of technical tasks in accordance with department protocols and regulatory standards.
• Accurately selects, counts, compounds (non-sterile), packages, scans, labels, fills, and delivers medications.
• Performs non-sterile compounding, including weighing, measuring, and mixing of ingredients using proper calculations, equipment, and technique.
• Operates and maintains automated dispensing machines, including loading, refilling, unloading, managing expirations, and resolving discrepancies.
• Accurately and efficiently fills medication orders and emergency supplies for stock orders and emergency carts/boxes.
• Ensures timely and accurate delivery of medications via tubing, cart runs, IV runs, and STAT deliveries, verifying correct delivery location and proper storage.
• Manages inventory control, including proper removal of medications from automation, stock rotation, removal of expired medications, reordering/stocking, and packaging/assembling medications.
• Ensures safe storage of medications and maintains accurate inventory of controlled substances (CII–CV), including documentation and reconciliation.
• Adheres to departmental standards and ensures the effective use of pharmacy automation and electronic systems.
• Maintains pharmacy automation systems by performing routine tasks such as changing consumables and cleaning equipment.
• Accesses patient information, processes pharmacy messages, and prints medication labels using the Electronic Health Record (EHR) system.
• Communicates professionally and respectfully with pharmacists, nurses, physicians, patients, and other healthcare team members.
• Manages and triages requests, ensuring timely and appropriate follow-up.
• Escalates complex or unresolved issues to the on-duty pharmacist or pharmacy leadership.
• Reports errors promptly, maintains accurate documentation, and contributes to the development of corrective action plans.
• Works with chemotherapy and hazardous medications on a daily basis.
