Assists licensed pharmacists in technical duties related to medication preparation and distribution. This role involves accurately selecting, preparing, and labeling medications, including hazardous drugs and controlled substances. The technician will also assist with medication distribution, screen phone calls, manage pharmacy procurement and inventory, and perform various compounding and admixture tasks according to USP standards and aseptic techniques. Responsibilities include inspecting medication storage areas, documenting medication histories, and supporting quality improvement initiatives. The role may also involve assisting in training other technicians and supporting departmental goals. Additionally, the technician will be involved in patient intake, data entry, insurance verification, label generation, and cashiering, with potential to develop competence in third-party billing and perform immunizations if certified.
