About The Position

The Certified Pharmacy Technician aids pharmacists in providing pharmaceutical care services to patients by assisting in the preparation, dispensing, record keeping, and transporting of medications for all patients including the following age groups: neonatal, pediatric, adolescence, adult, and geriatric. Under minimal supervision, this role performs the required duties of a technician at a high level of proficiency, demonstrating exemplary work behaviors and ownership for the success of the work area. This position also learns, performs and completes assignments/responsibilities assigned during the transitional duty period.

Requirements

  • Virginia Board of Pharmacy registration is required.
  • Pharmacy Technician certification from the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) or The Exam for the Certification of Pharmacy Technicians (ExCPT), is required within 6 months of employment.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Must be available to work all shifts, weekends, holidays, and emergency coverage.

Responsibilities

  • Interacts with other health care practitioners in a multidisciplinary environment.
