Certified Peer Support Specialists (CPSS) are individuals with lived experience in behavioral health recovery who are certified by the Washington State Department of Health (DOH) to provide peer support services. CPSSs use their lived experience to support others in finding their own path to wellness and recovery. They provide non-clinical, person-centered support in alignment with DOH guidelines, emphasizing mutuality, empowerment, and recovery-oriented systems of care. The CPSS – Early Engagement role provides person-centered care to newly enrolled members, typically within the first 30 days, connecting them with initial appointments and opportunities for early engagement to ensure program retention. This role may provide transportation support and will manage a revolving caseload after some level of stability is achieved.
