Requirements

  • Current Certified Peer Specialist (CPS) Certification.
  • Completion of 12 semester hours of college coursework in a mental health-related field, or a high school diploma/equivalent with at least six months of formal training in mental health or a related field.
  • Ability to maintain the required 18 hours of continuing education annually.
  • Successful completion of all required background screenings and clearances, including: OIG/Sanctions Screening, Valenz Screening, Professional References, Pennsylvania Criminal Background Check, Pennsylvania Motor Vehicle Record (MVR), Child Abuse Clearance, FBI Clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver peer support services, including education, advocacy, and engagement in the recovery and treatment process.
  • Provide recovery-focused education and support to individuals served, family members, and staff.
  • Assist individuals in developing and maintaining Wellness Recovery Action Plans (WRAP).
  • Facilitate self-help and peer support groups that promote recovery and wellness.
  • Support person-centered interventions identified within individualized service plans.
  • Orient and support new program participants as they begin services.
  • Provide education and training to staff and team members regarding recovery principles and peer support.
  • Facilitate recovery-focused groups such as: Wellness Recovery Action Planning (WRAP), Recovery Support Groups, Community Meetings, Symptom Management and Coping Skills Groups.
  • Assist individuals with independent living skills development and community integration.
  • Complete all required documentation accurately and in a timely manner in accordance with agency policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain personal physical, mental, and emotional wellness in order to effectively perform job duties and model healthy recovery practices.
  • Participate in team meetings and collaborative care planning.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support the recovery and success of individuals served.
