About The Position

Thrive Behavioral Network is seeking a Mental Health Certified Peer Specialist to provide individualized peer support under the treatment supervision of a mental health professional or certified rehabilitation specialist. The role promotes clients’ recovery goals, self-sufficiency, self-advocacy, development of natural supports, and maintenance of skills learned through other services. Effective performance requires sharing personal recovery experiences and building authentic peer-to-peer relationships.

The position calls for a personal belief in recovery, hope and optimism for peers’ success, genuine concern for each person as an individual, willingness to share one’s recovery experience, and flexibility in engaging people according to their receptivity and changing needs. Requirements

• Must be or have been a consumer of behavioral health services.
• Must be certified as a Peer Specialist by the Department of Human Services.
• Must be at least 18 years old and qualify as stated in 245I.04 Subdivision 10(1–3).
• Personal belief in recovery and genuine hope and optimism that peers will succeed.
• Sincere interest in peers’ welfare and ability to see each person as a unique individual.
• Willingness to share personal recovery experience.

Responsibilities

• Provide individualized peer support to each client under the treatment supervision of a mental health professional or certified rehabilitation specialist.
• Promote clients’ recovery goals, self-sufficiency, and self-advocacy.
• Support clients in developing natural supports.
• Support clients in maintaining skills learned from other services.
• Share personal recovery experiences and develop authentic peer-to-peer relationships.
• Engage people flexibly according to their receptivity and individual needs.
