Requirements

• Must be or have been a consumer of behavioral health services.
• Must be certified as a Peer Specialist by Department of Human Services.
• Must be at least 18 years old and qualify as stated in 245I.04 Subdv.10(1-3).

Responsibilities

• Provide individualized peer support to each client under the treatment supervision of a mental health professional or certified rehabilitation specialist.
• Promote a client's recovery goals, self-sufficiency, self-advocacy, and development of natural supports.
• Support a client's maintenance of skills learned from other services.
• Share personal recovery experiences and develop authentic peer-to-peer relationships.
