Requirements

  • Requires current certification as Peer Recovery Supporter in accordance with OAC 5122.29.15.
  • Official transcripts are required for all post-secondary education, coursework, or degrees listed on the application.
  • Applicants must submit an official transcript before receiving a formal employment offer.
  • Failure to provide transcripts within five (5) business days of the request will result in disqualification from further consideration.
  • Transcripts printed from the institution’s website will not be accepted.
  • DBH reserves the right to evaluate the academic validity of the degree-granting institution.

Responsibilities

  • Utilizes personal recovery experience, when appropriate, to promote hope, encouragement, and motivation throughout the recovery process.
  • Leads and coordinates recovery-focused groups, teaching coping skills, relaxation techniques, and wellness strategies.
  • Mentors clients/residents through the recovery process by encouraging empowerment, goal-setting, and self-advocacy.
  • Educates clients/residents on available peer services, rights processes, advance directives, and supplemental support programs.
