About The Position

Ohel is seeking a Certified Peer Recovery Advocate to provide person-centered planning and delivery of services to individuals at our Licensed Outpatient Mental Health Clinic. The Peer Recovery Advocate will have lived experience utilizing mental health and substance abuse services (SUD). The Peer Specialist is responsible for mentoring individuals diagnosed with mental health, substance abuse and co-occurring disorders by providing supportive and skills-building service with a rehabilitation and recovery focus. Peer Support uses trauma-informed and non-clinical assistance to achieve long-term recovery from SUD and Mental Health issues. The Peer Recovery Advocate will provide face-to-face services to assist connecting individuals to community based recovery supports consistent with their treatment plan.

Requirements

  • Lived experience utilizing mental health and substance abuse services (SUD)
  • Demonstrates organizational and communication skills which would enable effective interaction with fellow team members, individuals/clients/families and the community
  • Knowledge in trauma-informed care, recovery in both SUD and mental health
  • HS Diploma or GED required
  • Must be certified by OASAS as a CRPA (Certified Recovery Peer Advocate)
  • Two years’ experience working with behavioral health population
