About The Position

The Certified Optometric Assistant / Ophthalmic Technician will provide support with optical testing, exams, the fitting and adjustment of frames for patients, as well as the coordination of services with our community partners and internal staff. Under the supervision of the Program Manager, the Technician will lead scheduling operation processes for the Optometry service line while measuring productivity via reporting and collaborating with district and school administrative staff, nurses, and principals.

Requirements

  • Optometric Assistant Certification (REQUIRED)
  • ICA‑accredited training or IJCAHPO/AAO independent study program.
  • COA or COT certification.
  • Minimum of 6 months to 1 year of virtual experience in Ophthalmology or Optometry (REQUIRED)
  • At least 2 years Optometric Assistant
  • Skilled at Microsoft Excel and Office

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working with schools preferred

Responsibilities

  • Work with program manager to outline a strategic schedule for mobile vision clinics at schools according to the relevant district calendars to maximize students served; as well as vision clinics at Kintegra Health facilities
  • Work with operations department, nurses and county health officials, principals, district administrators to both proactively identify and suggest changes to the schedule and to react quickly to ever-changing needs relating to the schedule, including provider unavailability and urgent visit needs
  • Support program manager by maintaining all relevant programmatic data points
  • Serve as bridge between program manager, operations staff, and districts to ensure schedule changes and updates are communicated in a timely manner
  • Assist in optical testing procedures
  • Assist in measuring and fitting eyeglasses to include frame selection
  • Assist provider with exams as needed
  • Coordinate/schedule patient appointments
  • Maintain optimal driver safety standards when driving, parking, and using the vehicle
  • Setup of clinic, monitor/replenish inventory – to include loading, visually inspecting, and fueling the vehicle
  • Keep the vehicle and work areas clean, sanitized and organized at all times
  • Other duties as assigned
